DATE of MATCH: Tuesday 24th July 2001 The St Lawrence and Highland Court under-11s hosted one of the top matches of their season on July 24th. Played at Highland Court in glorious weather Kent under 11s Development Team comprising A and B squad players scored 171 for 8 off 43 overs. In reply St Lawrence under 11s scored 124 all out. Kent under 11s never ran away with the bowling with an opening blast from Niladri Das -1 for 19 off 8 overs- and a lethal spell by Karen Baker destroyed their middle order with Karen taking 3 for 23 off 6 overs. There was a fine continuous spell of 16 overs of leg spin bowling from William Hilton and Ollie Hayward bowling in tandem and it was only at the end of the innings with a fine knock of 44 not out from M Coles that saw the bat dominant over the ball. Going into bat St Lawrence lost early wickets but a 5th wicket partnership of 42 between opening batsman Robert Green (22) and Ollie Hayward (25) kept St Lawrence in the hunt. However wickets continued to fall with tight and accurate bowling especially from Luke Samarasinghe 2 for 4 (from Street End CC) and despite the last wicket pair of Josh Mason and William Limb holding on for 8 overs St Lawrence succumbed in the 38th over for 124 losing by 47 runs. Geordie Hayward, manager of St Lawrence & Highland Court under 11s said: “This will be the highlight of our season; I was extremely pleased with the way our boys and girls played, and a credit to our 4 coaches LJ Conradie, Andy Carter, Andy Davies and Giles Hilton that we are able to put a club team out against a county side and not get thrashed around the park! - Highland Court Colts are on the map this season - just have a look at our web site at www.highlandctcolts.co.uk to see what is happening at colts level at St Lawrence.” DATE: 27th July 2001 CONTACT: Geordie Hayward Tel 01227 721864
